Susan Orlean is a New Yorker staff writer and a bestselling author. Her book The Orchid Thief was made into the Oscar Award-winning movie Adaptation, starring  Meryl Streep and Nicholas Cage.

She recently published The Library Book, a deep dive into the history of America's libraries, and a re-examination of the disastrous Los Angeles Library fire 1986.
