Season 2, Episode 4
Louisa Young + Miranda Joy

Polymathic author Louisa Young has written biography, thriller, children's books, and screenplays. She reads from her memoir You Left Early, about alcoholism and marriage. Louisa compares alcohol to a Ponzi scheme, which works fantastically well...until it doesn't. She discusses how insidious alcoholism is for its victims, and the people that love them.

Pianist and songwriter Miranda Joy says that she found You Left Early very sad, but that that suited her just fine. "I haven’t yet really managed to write a happy song, because I don’t ever have to sit and think about those emotions,” she said. She performs “Carry You Around” live in the clock tower of St. Pancras Station in London.
